Stock · 3 units

When you turn on the tap or start the heating, the Manaut GLM5 13 20 heat exchanger Ref. 87167085750 is responsible for heating the domestic hot water and the heating circuit at the same time. If this part fails, you may notice that the water comes out lukewarm, that there are fluctuations in temperature, or that the circuits are mixing. This heat exchanger is compatible with models such as Leblanc ACLEAGLM, Leblanc GLM4, and Manaut GLM5. Replacing this part is necessary when you observe those symptoms or if there are internal leaks.

Guide

How to check if it is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference —. If it is not visible, do not identify the part by its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the bivalent heat exchanger resolves.

The bivalent heat exchanger transfers heat to heating and domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The hot water comes out in a jet but is getting less hot each time, although the boiler seems to be working fine.

Cause: Limescale builds up in the bivalent heat exchanger, reducing heat transfer to the domestic hot water.

Check the hardness of the water in your area and verify if the boiler has a water softener; if it hasn't been treated for years, there may be scale build-up.

  • 02

When opening the hot water tap, the pressure in the heating circuit rises and sometimes the safety valve trips.

Cause: This indicates an internal crack in the dual heat exchanger, allowing the mains water to pass into the heating circuit.

Note the pressure on the manometer with the tap closed and again with the tap open; if the pressure clearly rises, there is likely an internal leak.

  • 03

A noise like boiling water or bubbling is heard inside the boiler when it heats up.

Cause: The water trapped between the scale and the walls of the heat exchanger gets too hot and causes that noise.

Check if the noise coincides with the burner startup and disappears when turned off; if so, it points to a blockage in the heat exchanger.

  • 04

The boiler heats the heating system well, but the domestic hot water hardly comes out hot.

Cause: The heat exchanger distributes heat between the circuits; if the domestic hot water flow is blocked, it will not transfer heat even if the rest is functioning.

Measure the flow rate of hot water at the nearest tap; if it is very low compared to the cold water, it is possible that the passage is restricted.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
