    Cause: If the expansion vessel does not cushion the expansion, the pressure in the circuit increases until the safety valve activates to protect it.

    Measure the pressure when cold and hot: if there is an increase of more than 1 bar between the two, it is more likely that the problem is with the expansion vessel rather than the valve.
