Baxi Roca Coil Heat Exchanger - Laura / Victoria / R 20/20 / RS 20/20
The Roca - Laura / Victoria / R 20/20 / RS 20/20 coil heat exchanger is a key component in the heating system, as it transfers heat from the primary circuit to the domestic hot water instantly. When this part fails, you will notice that the water comes out lukewarm or has an oscillating temperature, and the flow of domestic hot water may decrease. This heat exchanger is compatible with the Laura, Victoria, R 20/20, and RS 20/20 models, among others. It is recommended to replace it when these symptoms occur to restore the supply of hot water.

How to check if it is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference —. If it is not visible, do not identify the part by its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the plate heat exchanger resolves
The plate heat exchanger transfers heat to the domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
There is water on the floor of the boiler or moisture is noticeable around the body of the heat exchanger.
Cause: Copper can corrode, or the brass joints can lose their tightness after years of thermal expansions.
Locate the exact point of the moisture with the boiler dry and running; if it comes directly from the body of the heat exchanger and not from a fitting, the leak is from the part.
- 02
The boiler heats less than before, takes longer, or does not reach the set temperature.
Cause: Limescale deposits inside the coil and reduces the flow area, thus transmitting less heat to the water.
Measure the hardness of the water in the system and check if there have been any descaling maintenance; years without maintenance in hard water are the most typical cause.
- 03
A knocking or rattling noise is heard inside the boiler when it calls for heat.
Cause: The water collides with the limescale deposits accumulated on the walls of the heat exchanger.
Listen if the noise coincides with the burner ignition and stops when it turns off; if so, point to the heat exchanger before the pump.
- 04
When opening the hot water tap, cold water comes out for the first few seconds and then it heats up suddenly.
Cause: The coil takes longer to transfer heat when it has scale buildup inside.
Time how long it takes to get hot water and compare it with what you remember from before; a delay that increases indicates progressive scaling.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
