Symptoms that require diagnosis in the circulator pump 122270090
The circulation pump circulates the water in the heating circuit. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The pump does not start or does not rotate when the boiler is turned on.
Cause: The shaft gets stuck due to limescale or because it has been idle for a long time, which is typical when resuming heating.
Try to free the shaft with a screwdriver through the central plug before replacing it.
- 02
A buzzing or strange noise is heard in the area of the pump.
Cause: It could be trapped air in the circuit or a bearing that is starting to fail.
Bleed the radiators and the pump's air vent before declaring it faulty.
- 03
The radiators are not heating even though the boiler is working.
Cause: If the pump does not circulate water, the heat does not transfer from the boiler to the circuit.
Touch the body of the pump while it is running: if it does not vibrate or is not hot, it indicates that it is not pumping.
- 04
The boiler shows a circulation error or a lack of flow fault.
Cause: The system detects that there is not enough water flow and blocks operation for safety reasons.
Check that the circuit shut-off valves are open before replacing the pump.
Fault codes Roca that require diagnosis
| Code | Fault | Technical checks |
|---|---|---|
| 34 | No signal from the circulator to the control board. | The pump does not send the operating signal to the control board (internal fault of the circulator or defective wiring/connector); check power supply and signal at the circulator connector and continuity of the harness to the PCB. |
| 35 | Possible air in the system mixed with water in the circulator. | Air trapped in the pump causes cavitation and lack of flow; check by bleeding the circulator/installation and ensuring that noises disappear and return improves. |
| 36 | Possible circulator blockage. | Circulator rotor seized by lime/dirt prevents circulation; check that the pump receives voltage but does not rotate (humming), attempt mechanical unlocking via front plug and measure consumption/ΔT flow-return. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
