Repair and installation of Daikin air conditioning in Madrid
Specialised technicians for the entire Daikin range: residential inverter splits, multi-split systems, and commercial VRV units. Quick diagnostics, original spare parts, and preventive maintenance.
💡 In a nutshell
Daikin is the world's largest manufacturer of air conditioning equipment, with over 30 million units sold annually. Founded in 1924 in Osaka, it was the company that invented the VRV system (Variable Refrigerant Volume) in 1982, the technology now used in its variants by all major manufacturers. In Spain, its residential market share has grown steadily since the 2008 crisis and today it is a reference brand in new construction and mid-high range renovations. They manufacture everything from the refrigerant (R-32) to the compressor and electronics, which reduces their dependence on third parties and improves quality consistency.
The Daikin units we service the most in Madrid
In the metropolitan area of Madrid, the installed base of Daikin is very extensive. These are the models that most frequently come through our workshop or we service at home:
- Daikin Sensira (FTXF‑A / FTXF‑C) — The most installed in flats between 2018 and 2024. Entry-level range S1-S3. The most common faults are clogged filters and internal NTC sensor failure after 4-6 years.
- Daikin Stylish (FTXA‑AW / FTXA‑CB) — Very popular in mid-high range apartment renovations. Common issues: drainage motor and communication failure with the WiFi module after firmware updates.
- Daikin Inverter Classic (FTXB‑B / FTXS‑K) — Equipment from the 2012‑2018 generation is still very present. The capacitor of the condenser fan and the external PCB often fail after 8‑10 years.
- Daikin Perfera (FTXM‑R / FTXM‑N) — High-end with R-32. We see them increasingly in new constructions post-2020. The human presence sensor and the tilt passage assembly are the most delicate points.
Daikin product range in the Spanish market
Daikin organizes its residential offering into three distinct segments. Each has different maintenance requirements and spare parts availability:
Efficiency segment (A+++ / R-32)
- Perfera (FTXM) — Top of the residential range. SCOP up to 5.10. Operates in heating down to ‑20 °C. Flash Streamer technology for air purification. Many luxury developers in Madrid have been installing it since 2019.
- Ururu Sarara (FTXZ) — The most advanced model in the wall-mounted range: it humidifies, dehumidifies, ventilates, and purifies autonomously. Very expensive but in demand among customers seeking absolute comfort.
Balance segment (A++ / aesthetics)
- Stylish (FTXA) — The most successful split unit in renovation installations between 2018 and 2023. Available in white, silver, and black. Built-in WiFi. One of the most common choices among certified Daikin installers in Madrid.
- Emura (FTXJ) — Japanese minimal design, brushed aluminium body. For customers who value appearance as much as performance. WiFi and app control as standard.
Access and replacements segment (A+ / A++)
- Sensira (FTXF) — The most globally installed option in apartments in Madrid. R-32, quiet (21 dB at minimum), easy to maintain. No WiFi as standard (can be added with module BRP069C4X).
- Comfora (FTXP) — Designed for direct replacements of previous white goods units. Compact dimensions, easy installation.
Multi-split and commercial
- Multi+ (MXM) — Outdoor units for 2 to 5 indoor zones. Widely used in residential buildings with homeowners' associations that prohibit multiple machines on the facade.
- Sky Air / Cassette (FDXM / FDYQ) — For offices and commercial spaces. High reliability, spare parts with multiple availability.
- VRV 5 (RYYQ / REYQ) — Centralised system for entire buildings. Daikin dominates this segment in Spain with over 35% market share.
Warning and Fault Codes: Quick Guide
Daikin units display the code on the screen or send it to the app. The first letter indicates the affected subsystem (A = indoor, C = sensor, E = outdoor, F = refrigeration, U = communication/voltage). Identifying it before calling greatly speeds up the diagnosis:
| Code | Subsystem | Most common cause in Madrid |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Indoor unit PCB | Short circuit in the PCB or power supply fault. Common in Sensira after power surges. |
| A5 | Frost protection | Uncleaned filters (frozen evaporator) or low gas. First check: vacuum filters |
| C4 | Compressor discharge thermistor | Sensor out of range. Replace thermistor (economical part) |
| E1 | Outdoor unit PCB | PCB damaged by moisture, lightning, or overvoltage. More common on unprotected terraces. |
| E5 | IPM Overcurrent | Defective inverter module or compressor with faulty windings |
| F3 | High discharge temperature | R-32 gas leak or blocked condenser fan |
| F6 | Alta presión refrigerante | Dirty condenser (common in Madrid due to dust) or exterior fan fault |
| U0 | Baja presión refrigerante | Gas leak in the installation. Requires leak detection and recharge with nitrogen. |
| U4 | Error comunicación int./ext. | Damaged wiring or faulty PCB. First, check the external connection terminal. |

What they ask us about Daikin in Madrid
D.-CS (Daikin Customer Support) has a branch in Spain with an authorised service network. For warranty repairs, the official service is mandatory. For out-of-warranty equipment, a specialised technician with Daikin experience like us usually resolves it just as quickly or faster, without bureaucracy and with the same access to original spare parts. Original Daikin spare parts are not exclusive to the official SAT.
No. The handling of fluorinated gases (R‑32 in modern models, R‑410A in those prior to 2018) is regulated by Regulation EU 517/2014 and requires an HFC equipment operator license. Working on the refrigeration circuit without a license is illegal and potentially dangerous. If the machine loses gas, there is a leak that must first be located and sealed; charging without repairing the leak is a waste of money.
The defrost cycle (when the outdoor unit releases the ice that forms in cold conditions) produces a humming sound and sometimes steam, and this is completely normal. A slight clicking sound when turning on due to thermal expansion is also normal. If the noise is constant, metallic, or with excessive vibration, it usually indicates one of these issues: worn fan motor, loose mounting screws of the outdoor unit, or unbalanced interior blades. In all cases, there is a simple solution.
The user can clean the indoor filters every 2-4 weeks during heavy use (summer/winter). Full technical maintenance —cleaning of the evaporator and condenser, inspection of the drainage circuit, pressure verification, and electrical check— should be done once a yearIn Madrid, we recommend it in April-May (before summer), although autumn is also valid. Equipment subject to RITE (installations in premises and communities) is legally required to have documented periodic maintenance.
They share the same base platform (FTXA/FTXJ) and many internal components, but they are not identical. The Emura (FTXJ) has a cast aluminium body, a single front flap system without divisions, and a more advanced control PCB with its own infrared sensor occupancy mode. The Stylish (FTXA) uses high-quality plastic and is somewhat more affordable. In repairs, some parts are interchangeable and others are not: we always verify by exact model reference.
