Guide

How to check if the part number BI1141503 is the piece for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference BI1141503. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the 3-way valve BI1141503 resolves.

The 3-way valve diverts water between heating and domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

There is no hot water coming from the tap even though the radiators are working perfectly, or just the opposite: there is domestic hot water but the heating is not working.

Cause: The valve has become stuck in one of the two positions and does not direct the water to the correct circuit.

Before replacing it, check that the boiler is correctly receiving the command to operate in domestic hot water or heating mode: if the fault is with the PCB, the gas valve may be fine.

  • 02

When opening the hot water tap, the radiators also heat up a bit even though the heating is off.

Cause: The internal diaphragm does not close completely and allows water to pass between the two circuits even though the valve is in the correct position.

Touch the supply and return pipes of the heating system with the boiler only in DHW mode: if they are warm, there is a cross flow and it is advisable to check the gas valve before ruling it out.

  • 03

Moisture or dripping appears right below the gas valve cover.

Cause: The diaphragm ages with use and loses tightness at the edge where the cover is screwed on.

Tighten the screws of the cover before replacing the entire part: sometimes the dripping is just due to loose screws, not a broken diaphragm.

  • 04

The boiler takes several extra seconds to switch from heating to hot water when a tap is opened.

Cause: The accumulated scale in the internal passages of the diaphragm slows down the movement of the gas valve.

Check for visible limescale deposits in the bleed valve or the expansion tank: if the water in the area is hard, the valve may repeat the fault even after you replace it.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
