Bithermal Heat Exchanger Fagor Contract CA 20 En Ref. ST0028026
The Fagor Contract CA 20 double heat exchanger heats both the heating circuit and the domestic hot water simultaneously in a single unit. When it fails, you may notice that the water comes out lukewarm, experience temperature fluctuations, or even a mixing of circuits. This model is compatible with several boilers from the Fagor Contract CE range, Fagor FA-20, and Fagor FEB / Ecoplus, among others. It is recommended to replace it when these symptoms occur to maintain the performance of your heating and hot water system.

How to check if ref. ST0028026 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference ST0028026. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the ST0028026 heat exchanger resolves.
The bivalent heat exchanger transfers heat to heating and domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The domestic hot water comes out intermittently, alternating between hot and cold with the tap in the same position.
Cause: Limescale accumulates unevenly in the bivalent heat exchanger and causes the temperature sensor to fluctuate.
First, check the pressure and flow at the tap: a very low flow produces the same effect without it being the heat exchanger.
- 02
The heating works, but the domestic hot water is barely hot.
Cause: The domestic hot water circuit gets clogged with scale before the heating circuit.
Check the water hardness and if a water softener is installed before replacing the part.
- 03
The pressure in the heating circuit rises or falls without explanation, and water needs to be replenished frequently.
Cause: An internal perforation of the bithermal heat exchanger connects the heating circuit with the domestic water circuit.
Close the filling valve for a few days and check if the pressure remains stable before taking any action.
- 04
A boiling or bubbling noise is heard inside the boiler when requesting domestic hot water.
Cause: The lime scale accumulated in the bithermal heat exchanger creates localized hot spots that cause the water to boil.
Check if the noise occurs only when you open the hot water tap: that points to the heat exchanger rather than other parts.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
