Expansion Vessel Vaillant Turboblock VCM ES 182 1 Ref. 181022

Stock · 5 units

The expansion vessel Vaillant Turboblock VCM ES 182 1 is a crucial component that absorbs the increase in water volume when heated in your boiler. When it fails, you may notice that the pressure fluctuates sharply and that the safety valve is leaking. This vessel is compatible with several Vaillant models, such as the VC 180 XE, VC 182 E, and VCW 280 XE, among others. It is recommended to replace it when you observe these irregularities in pressure, as its malfunction can affect the operation of the boiler.

Guide

How to check if the ref. 181022 is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 181022. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the expansion vessel 181022 resolves.

The expansion vessel absorbs the expansion of water when heated. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The manometer shows high pressure as soon as the heating starts and then gradually decreases.

Cause: If the vessel does not have pre-charge air, water accumulates in the circuit instead of being compensated in the vessel.

With the system cold and depressurized, check the air pressure in the expansion vessel valve; it should be around the filling pressure of the circuit (usually 1-1.5 bar).

  • 02

You need to refill the heating circuit every few days to prevent it from losing pressure.

Cause: A broken membrane allows water to enter the air chamber of the vessel, which stops fulfilling its function and the water is lost through the safety valve.

Open the air bleed valve of the expansion vessel for a moment: if water comes out instead of air, the membrane is perforated.

  • 03

Water is leaking from the safety valve while the boiler is stopped and cold.

Cause: Without the glass reservoir, any small increase in water temperature already pushes the pressure above the valve limit.

First, rule out that the safety valve itself is scratched or dirty at the seat by manually bleeding it once and checking if it closes properly again.

  • 04

There are knocks or vibrations in the pipes when starting the heating pump.

Cause: A non-absorbent vessel allows pressure changes to be transmitted suddenly throughout the circuit.

Also check that the pipe supports are not loose; if the noise only occurs when starting and coincides with a pressure increase, it points to the expansion vessel.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
