Cause: The motor bearing is worn out and the shaft rubs against the casing while rotating.
Turn the impeller by hand with the boiler off; if you notice friction or a hard spot, confirm the wear of the bearing.

The boiler locks itself during operation with a fault warning for flue gas extraction or smoke.
Cause: The extractor loses flow in hot conditions because the motor overheats or the impeller is dirty, and it fails to maintain the required pressure.
Let the boiler cool down and repeat a start cycle to see if the fault occurs at the same operating time; this points to overheating of the motor.

The extractor spins very slowly or intermittently, almost without power.
Cause: The motor is losing winding or the impeller is dragging due to accumulated dirt, and it does not reach the speed required by the boiler.
Listen for whether the extractor starts strong and then decreases, as opposed to a constant buzzing without spinning: these are different faults.
