  Measure the water hardness in the area before assuming that the heat exchanger is worn out.

  The flow of hot water is weaker than before, even though the overall pressure of the boiler is normal.

  Cause: The water flow inside the heat exchanger is narrowing due to the scale buildup in the channels.

  Check the cold water inlet filter: it often gets clogged before the heat exchanger itself and gives the same symptom.

  The pressure in the heating circuit drops on its own and it needs to be refilled more than usual.

  Cause: An internal leak in the heat exchanger connects the heating circuit with the domestic hot water circuit.

  Close the filling valve for a few days and check if the pressure remains stable before replacing the part.

  A boiling noise can be heard inside the boiler when it requests hot water.

  Cause: Limescale creates localized hot spots in the heat exchanger that cause the water to boil locally.

  Check if the noise only occurs in domestic hot water and not in heating: that points directly to the heat exchanger.
