Symptoms and faults that the pressure switch resolves

The pressure switch controls the air or water pressure to authorize operation. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

  The boiler tries to ignite, you hear the fan for a moment, and then it stops and remains locked.

  Cause: The pressure switch does not detect the depression generated by the fan, and the boiler cuts off the gas for safety before igniting.

  Check that the silicone tubes going from the fan to the pressure switch are not bent, loose, or cracked.

  The lockout occurs right after the fan starts, before the flame appears.

  Cause: The pressure switch must close its contact for the PCB to authorize the gas valve, and if it does not switch in time, the cycle is aborted.

  Check that the fan spins freely and at a good speed; a loose one does not generate enough pressure.

  The fault is particularly noticeable when it's windy or when the flue is dirty.

  Cause: The pressure switch is sensitive to the actual pressure difference in the duct, and a restricted venting alters the reading even if the component is fine.

  Check the flue terminal and the duct for any blockages, nests, or dirt before replacing the pressure switch.

  The boiler lockout code indicates a pressure switch or ventilation fault.

  Cause: It is the warning given by the boiler when it does not receive the expected signal from this component within the safety time.

  Confirm in your model's manual that this code corresponds to the pressure switch, as some manufacturers use the same code for multiple causes.
