The boiler turns on but the radiators do not heat up.
Cause: the rotor does not pump water through the heating circuit and heat does not reach the radiators
Touch the body of the pump while the boiler is running: if you don't feel any vibration or heat, bleed the air through the front screw before replacing it.

The pump makes noise or vibrates when starting.
Cause: Air trapped in the rotor or a worn bearing causes cavitation.
Bleed the air from the pump and the highest radiators; if the noise persists with the circuit bled, the problem is the pump.

Water or moisture appears at the base of the pump.
Cause: the mechanical seal of the shaft is worn out and has lost tightness
Dry the area and check after a heating cycle if the leak reappears right at the axis and not at a joint or nearby fitting.

The pump does not start after the summer or a long period of inactivity.
Cause: The residues and scale in the circuit block the shaft when it has been idle for months.
With the boiler turned off, remove the front cap of the rotor and try to unjam the shaft by hand with a flat screwdriver before purchasing a new one.
