  Manually operate the bleed lever a couple of times to remove any possible scale or dirt from the seat before replacing the gas valve.

  The heating circuit is gradually losing pressure day by day, without any visible leaks in the radiators or pipes.

  Cause: The valve may be intermittently bleeding small amounts of water, something that goes unnoticed if the discharge pipe leads to a hidden drain.

  Follow the discharge pipe of the gas valve to its outlet and check for any moisture or recent dripping before looking for the leak in another part of the installation.

  The valve is bleeding water without the pressure gauge needle reaching a high pressure.

  Cause: The spring or the internal seat of the gas valve has lost its calibration point and opens prematurely.

  Record the exact pressure at which the valve starts to drip, with the manometer in front, before assuming that the problem is solely with the valve.

  After bleeding or checking the expansion vessel, the valve continues to leak just like before.

  Cause: If the expansion vessel does not absorb the water expansion properly, the pressure rises above normal and the gas valve operates correctly, even though the symptom may seem the same.

  Check the air pressure of the expansion vessel when cold before replacing the gas valve, to avoid changing a part that is actually functioning well.
