Why do many installers in Madrid choose Fujitsu?
Fujitsu General does not have the brand recognition that Daikin or Mitsubishi have, but it is well known in the installation sector. How to read Fujitsu models: quick guide
The Fujitsu nomenclature confuses many customers. The key is in the first three letters:
- ASYG = wall-mounted inverter indoor unit (the most common type)
- ASHG = high-end wall-mounted inverter indoor unit (Design, horizontal louvre)
- AOYG = outdoor unit corresponding to ASYG models
- AOYH = high-efficiency outdoor unit (Nordic, heating down to ‑25 °C)
The following number indicates the approximate power in BTU: 09 = 9,000 BTU (2.5 kW), 12 = 12,000 BTU (3.5 kW), 18 = 18,000 BTU (5 kW), etc.
Residential wall-mounted range
- Airflow (ASYG‑KMTA) — The most installed range in Madrid since 2018. Dual airflow system: cold air is distributed horizontally without creating a direct draft on people. A++, quiet (19 dB at minimum). The model we see most in new build apartments between 2019 and 2024. Does not include WiFi as standard but accepts the UTY‑TFSXF2 module.
- Kë (ASYG‑KGTA) — The star of the current range. A++, integrated WiFi, intelligent control by reference temperature and activity. 19 dB in ultra-silent mode. The difference with the Airflow is that the Kë includes WiFi as standard and has a wider operating temperature range in heating.
- Design (ASHG‑KMTA) — Ultra-thin horizontal body, wall grille with bottom outlet. For installations where aesthetics are critical or the ceiling is low. Integrated WiFi.
- Nordic (ASYG‑LLCE / ASYG‑LMCA) — Designed for harsh climates. Efficient heating down to ‑25 °C (COP of 1.8 even at ‑20 °C). In Madrid, it is not necessary for standard use, but customers in high mountain areas or with poorly insulated houses specifically request it.
- Compact (ASYG‑LECA) — Entry-level range, without WiFi, A+. For secondary rooms or second homes where budget is a priority.
Commercial multi-split and VRF
- Multi Room (AOYG‑LAT) — Up to 4 indoor zones with one outdoor unit. Widely used in communities in Madrid where regulations limit the number of units on the facade.
- Airstage V‑II (AJYG) — VRF system for buildings. Less implemented than Daikin VRV or Mitsubishi City Multi in the tertiary sector in Madrid, but with a good proposal for medium-sized installations.
What customers ask us the most about Fujitsu equipment
The ASYG12LLCC was one of the best-selling models in Spain between 2014 and 2018. At 10 years old, it is in the middle range of its lifespan. If the compressor is working and the fault is a PCB, motor, or thermistor, the repair makes economic sense. It uses R-410A, whose availability is decreasing but is still legal and accessible for refill. If the compressor has failed or there is a significant leak in the circuit, the balance between repair cost and the price of a new unit begins to become unbalanced.
They share the platform and the base compressor, but they are not identical. The Kë (ASYG‑KGTA) has the PCB with integrated WiFi management, the additional presence sensor, and the adaptive temperature control that adjusts the setpoint according to the estimated activity. The Airflow (ASYG‑KMTA) is the version without native WiFi and with less control logic. This means that the PCBs are different and they are not interchangeable, although most of the other mechanical components and the refrigeration circuit are.
The absence of a fault code with low performance in cold conditions almost always points to one of these four causes: (1) blocked filters—check them yourself first; (2) low gas charge (the equipment continues to operate but is underpowered—requires a technician to measure pressures); (3) dirty indoor evaporator what prevents proper heat exchange—requires professional cleaning; (4) Deteriorated external fan that it does not expel heat sufficiently. Most of these causes can be resolved during a visit.
No different installation is required compared to any standard split. The difference with the Nordic lies in the control algorithm and the outdoor heat exchanger, which is sized for lower temperatures. In Madrid, the outdoor temperature in winter rarely drops below -7 °C, which is within the range of all modern inverter splits. The Nordic provides an advantage especially in mountainous areas or in homes with north exposure without insulation.
Internal filters: clean every 2-3 weeks during intensive use (the user can do this with the appliance's own extractor, rinsing with lukewarm water and allowing to dry). Complete technical maintenance: once a year, including cleaning of the evaporator and condenser, checking the drainage, measuring pressures, and electrical verification. RITE equipment (commercial and community premises) requires documented maintenance more frequently.
Fault reference and Fujitsu fault codes
Fujitsu uses the format E:XX for internal errors and loose letters for protection states. The code appears on the control board display or in the blinking of the operation LED. The most common ones in the installed units in Madrid:
