Vaillant Fan Extractor Eco Tec Plus VMW ES 306 5 5 Ref. 0020135138
The Vaillant Extractor Eco Tec Plus VMW ES 306 5 5 fan is a flue gas extractor responsible for evacuating combustion gases and creating the necessary draft for the boiler to operate correctly. When this part fails, the boiler may not ignite or may lock out due to a fault in the flue gas evacuation, which can manifest with fault codes F.32, F.33, or F.37. This fan is compatible with various boilers from the ecoTEC plus range, such as the VMW ES 246/5-5 and VU 306/5-5 models, among others. It is recommended to replace the fan when these symptoms or associated fault codes are detected.

How to check if ref. 0020135138 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 0020135138. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the extractor 0020135138 resolves.
The extractor evacuates the combustion gases with forced draft. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The boiler tries to ignite, you hear the fan for a moment, and then it stops, indicating an evacuation fault.
Cause: The extractor does not reach the minimum flow rate that the air pressure switch needs to allow ignition.
With the boiler unplugged, manually turn the impeller to check that it is not seized or rubbing before replacing it.
- 02
A loud buzzing, whistling, or vibration is heard when the fan is running.
Cause: The impeller becomes unbalanced or the bearings wear out over time of operation.
With the boiler off, move the impeller with your finger: if you notice friction or lateral play, the wear is already confirmed.
- 03
The boiler locks out midway through combustion or just after the burner starts.
Cause: If the extractor loses revolutions while running, the exhaust flow decreases and the safety lock is activated.
Check the flue for any external obstructions (snow, leaves, nest) before attributing it to the fan.
- 04
The fan does not start, it remains stationary or spins very slowly when the start command is given.
Cause: The motor may have seized after a long period of inactivity, which is common at the end of summer.
Check if the extractor is receiving power at its terminals when attempting to start; if it is receiving power and does not rotate, the mechanical fault is confirmed.
Fault codes from Vaillant that this part resolves.
| Code | Fault | Diagnosis and solution |
|---|---|---|
| F.32 | Fan fault: defective or not connected fan. | The extractor does not start or rotates out of tolerance (motor/Hall sensor/wiring). Check connector and harness, verify rpm in diagnostics (D.033/D.034) and ensure the fan rotates freely without obstruction. |
| F.33 | Air pressure switch fault. | If the fan does not generate the expected depression or is faulty, the pressure switch does not switch. Check the fan's rotation/consumption, the pressure switch hoses, and ensure it closes upon starting. |
| F.37 | Divergence of the number of revolutions during operation. | The fan does not maintain the expected speed due to motor/control fault. Check rpm in diagnostics, Hall signal and power supply; rule out pressure switch or obstructions in intake/exhaust. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
