Vaillant Flue Extractor VMW ES 24 282 5 R2 Ref. 0020020008
In the Vaillant Turbomax boilers, the Vaillant VMW ES 24 282 5 R2 Ref. 0020020008 flue extractor is the fan responsible for expelling combustion gases and generating the necessary draft for the boiler to start. If this part fails, you will notice that the boiler does not ignite or locks out due to the inability to expel the fumes, and fault codes F.32 or F.33 may appear. This extractor is compatible with several models in the Turbomax range and also with some condensing heating and wall-mounted boilers. A technician must confirm through diagnosis whether it needs to be replaced in the event of any symptoms of malfunction to avoid further issues.

How to check if ref. 0020020008 is the part for your boiler
The part reference, model, and equipment revision must be verified against the manufacturer's documentation.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 0020020008. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms that require diagnosis in the extractor 0020020008
The extractor evacuates the combustion gases with forced draft. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The noise from the extractor increases over time, especially when starting cold.
Cause: The wear of the motor bearing increases friction when rotating.
Note whether the noise only occurs at startup or persists throughout the entire cycle; if it disappears after a while, check the attachment of the extractor to the casing.
- 02
The boiler tries to ignite several times unsuccessfully.
Cause: The extractor does not reach the necessary speed for the pressure switch to allow ignition.
Make sure that the grille or the exhaust duct to the outside is free of obstructions before replacing the fan.
- 03
The equipment stops after a period of operation and displays a pressure switch or flue fault code.
Cause: A fan that loses revolutions causes a drop in pressure that the pressure switch interprets as a flue fault.
Check the condition of the siphon and the silicone tubes of the pressure switch before attributing the fault to the extractor.
- 04
There is vibration felt in the casing or in the outlet pipe when the extractor is running.
Cause: An unbalanced rotor or loose screws transmit vibration to the rest of the assembly.
With the boiler off, check that the extractor is properly anchored and that the mounting screws are not loose.
Vaillant fault codes that require diagnosis
| Code | Fault | Technical checks |
|---|---|---|
| F.32 | Fault: fan | The flue gas extractor (fan) is faulty/not connected or does not reach the expected rpm, so the electronics do not receive the tachometric signal. Check the power supply to the fan and the Hall/tacho signal and ensure free rotation; replace if it does not comply. |
| F.33 | Air pressure switch fault | If the flue gas extractor does not generate the necessary depression, the pressure switch does not switch after start-up and the unit locks out. Check that the fan starts and creates a differential in the pressure switch tubes (measure the pressure switch contact during start-up) and the condition/cleanliness of the extractor. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
