When you turn on the heating, the Vaillant Turbotec Plus VMW ES 21 245 4 5 R3 Ref. 190237 extractor is responsible for expelling the combustion gases and ensuring the necessary draft for the boiler to operate. If this part fails, you will notice that the boiler does not ignite or gets locked, and fault codes F.32, F.37, or F.33 may appear. This extractor is compatible with several models from the Vaillant Turbotec Plus VMW ES range, such as the VMW 21/245/4-3 R3 and the VMW 255/4-7, among others. It is recommended to replace it when it shows faults in smoke evacuation.

Guide

How to check if ref. 190237 is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 190237. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the extractor 190237 resolves.

The extractor evacuates the combustion gases with forced draft. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The boiler tries to ignite but gets locked due to a fault in the flue gas extraction.

Cause: The extractor does not reach the minimum speed required for the pressure switch to confirm the evacuation, which causes the control board to cut the cycle.

Before changing the extractor, check that the flue outlet to the outside is not blocked and that the terminal is not deformed, which is common after strong winds or snowfall.

  • 02

A loud vibrating or squeaking noise is heard when starting the boiler that it didn't make before.

Cause: The impeller or the bearing of the extractor is worn and rubs when rotating.

Gently touch the extractor casing while it's operating; if the vibration is strong and constant, it is not a normal operating noise.

  • 03

The extractor does not start after the boiler has been idle for a long time, such as in summer.

Cause: The motor shaft seizes due to lack of use and accumulated moisture in the assembly.

Try to turn on the boiler several times in a row; if the fan starts on the second or third attempt, it may be a temporary jam and not a definitive fault.

  • 04

The boiler stops during operation, not just when starting.

Cause: The extractor loses revolutions while running and does not maintain the necessary pressure for safe exhaust.

Note if the cut occurs at the same operating time; a repeated pattern helps to differentiate whether the problem is with the extractor or the flue.

Fault codes from Vaillant that this part resolves.

CodeFaultDiagnosis and solution
F.32Fan faultThe extractor (fan) does not start or is not detected by the PCB (no Hall/tachometer signal), causing the boiler to lock out. Check the power supply to the fan and the feedback signal from the fan to the PCB.
F.37Divergence of the number of revolutions during operationThe extractor operates outside the intended range (seized bearings, dirt, or defective fan Hall sensor), causing a discrepancy in rpm measured by the electronics. Check fan rpm/feedback in service test and mechanical condition of the extractor.
F.33The pressure capsule does not turn onIf the extractor does not generate the necessary depression, the pressure switch (manometric capsule) does not switch, and the boiler locks out. Check that the fan reaches rpm and creates depression (Venturi connections/clean tubes) and that the pressure switch switches when the fan starts.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
