How to check if it is the part for your boiler
The part reference, model, and equipment revision must be verified against the manufacturer's documentation.
- Look for the model PM-02 and the reference Vaillant 0020045489; this unit also shows 3034 0083 V and 0020045379.
- Look at the PCB code: TL-G1A and A1133-G1A.00200453C. The TL-G1A alone is not enough: another Vaillant board (0020045430) also has it.
- Don't confuse it with 0020136649, the PCB that the spare parts lists provide for the VMW 21/245/4-5 and the VCW 195/245/4-5: it is a different code.
- Check the model of your boiler on its rating plate: Registered confirmation: the VMW ES 21/245/4-5 R3.
- If they match, call us at 911 17 77 77 with the model of your boiler.
Symptoms that require diagnosis in the Vaillant.
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The boiler does not start or shuts down, with the warning F28 or F29.
Cause: Gas supply, ionization electrode or ground connection.
Have a technician check it. Do not touch the gas valve.
- 02
The boiler detects flame with the gas valve closed: warning F27.
Cause: Ionization electrode, faulty PCB or gas solenoid.
It is a security fault. Have a technician check it immediately.
- 03
The boiler locks out with the warning F61 or F62: fault in the gas valve or in the PCB.
Cause: Faulty wiring or gas valve, or a malfunctioning PCB.
Do not manipulate it. Have a technician check it.
- 04
The boiler displays the warning F63: memory fault of the PCB.
Cause: Faulty PCB.
Have a technician check it. It may be necessary to replace the PCB.
Vaillant fault codes that require diagnosis
| Code | Fault | Technical checks |
|---|---|---|
| F27 | Flame detected with the gas valve closed. | It is a safety fault. Have a technician check it immediately. Point to the ionization electrode or the PCB. |
| F28 | Ignition fault: the appliance does not start after several attempts. | Have a technician check it. Focus on the gas supply, the ignition electrode, or the PCB. |
| F29 | Flame loss during operation; the reignition fails. | Have a technician check it. Focus on the gas supply, the ionization electrode, or the grounding of the appliance. |
| F26 | Stepper motor current of the gas valve not plausible. | Have a technician check it. Focus on the gas valve, its wiring, or the PCB. |
| F49 | Low voltage on the eBUS (thermostat or controller line). | Check the wiring of the thermostat. If the warning returns, have a technician check it. Point to the communication PCB. |
| F61 | Fault in the gas valve regulation. | Do not manipulate it. Have a technician check it: it could be the wiring of the gas valve or the PCB. |
| F62 | Delay in closing the gas valve: the flame takes time to extinguish. | Have a technician check it. It points to leaks in the gas valve or the PCB. |
| F63 | Fault in the memory (EEPROM) of the PCB. | Have a technician check it. The PCB may need to be replaced. |
| F64 | Fault in the electronic system or in the sensors. | Have a technician check it. It points to the PCB or a short circuit in a supply or return sensor. |
| F65 | Electronic system temperature too high. | Have a technician check it. It points to external heat on the PCB or a faulty PCB. |
| F67 | Flame control signal out of limits (0 or 5 V). | Have a technician check it. Point to the PCB. |
| F20 | Safety temperature limiter activated: overheating. | Do not reset it over and over again. Have a technician check it. If the warning returns, it may be due to a lack of water circulation, not the PCB. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.

- Pending applications to verify
- VMW ES 21/245/4-5 R3 — noted compatibility; pending confirmation by variant. Registered application: for your product 10219 (“Vaillant PCB (0020045489) [20136649]”): turboTEC plus VU 202/5-5; turboTEC plus VU 242/5-5; turboTEC plus VUW 202/5-5; turboTEC plus VUW 242/5-5; turboTEC plus VUW 282/5-5; turboTEC plus VUW 322/5-5. Pending verification with manufacturer documentation for the reference and physical variant; this commercial statement does not certify compatibility or interchangeability.
- Not compatible or excluded: Vaillant VCW 195/4-5 R1 — It has a different PCB: 0020136649 (spare parts list and Vaillant catalog). It provided 0020045489 for the "VCW DE 195/4-5 R1".
- Do not confuse: 0020136649 — Printed circuit board 0020136649 according to the PDF for the VMW 21/245/4-5; it lists it as "MODULO VAILLANT 0020136649" for the VMW 21/245/4-5 and the 21/245/4-5 R3; for the VCW 195/4-5 R1 and 245/4-5 it appears as "Leiterplatte, Heizwert low NOX" (and Vaillant spare parts catalog) — It is another code. Cite both in the title of its technical sheet without explaining the relationship; no other connects them.
- Do not confuse: 0020045430 — Main PCB Vaillant with the marking TL-G1A on its circuit (in the repair forum of an atmoTEC pro) — It is another part number: the TL-G1A alone does not identify this PCB. Compare with 0020045489.
- 0020136649, VMW 21/245/4-5, VCW 195/245/4-5
- To confirm: Workshop: VMW ES 21/245/4-5 R3. External: and it gives 0020045489 as Vaillant PCB; none link it to the VMW and the spare parts lists provide for it and for the VCW 195/4-5 R1 the 0020136649.
