Vaillant fault codes that require diagnosis

CodeFaultTechnical checks
F.28Start-up fault: after three attempts without flame, the boiler goes into fault. If it repeats, have a technician check it: it could be the gas, the electrodes, or the PCB.
F.29Flame loss during operation and failed reignition. If it repeats, have a technician check it: it could be the gas supply, the flue gas recirculation, the grounding, or the ignition.
F.61The gas valve does not activate properly: fault in the wiring, coils, or PCB.Have a technician check it. Point to the PCB if the wiring of the gas valve is correct.
F.62The gas valve takes time to close after the flame goes out.Have a technician check it: it could be the gas valve, the electrode, or the PCB.
F.63Fault in the memory of the PCB (EEPROM).It usually points to the PCB: have a technician check it.
F.67The flame signal is not valid: fault in the electronics or ionization. If it goes out when turning on, have a technician check the PCB and the ionization.
F.20The safety limiter has been activated due to temperature: the supply or return sensor has exceeded the maximum.Check that there is water in the circuit and that the pump is circulating. If the flow sensor is poorly connected or faulty, have a technician check it.
F.27There is a flame signal with the burner off.A technician should check it: there may be a gas valve that is not closing or a faulty flame controller.
F.60Gas valve fault: valve cable short-circuited, or defective valve or main PCB.Have a technician check it. If the gas valve and its wiring are fine, it could be the PCB.
F.13Short circuit in the temperature sensor of the accumulator.Have a technician check it: it could be the accumulator sensor or its wiring. With a faulty sensor, the accumulator does not recharge in time.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.

Before purchasing
  • To confirm: These symptoms come from the commercial text, not from a technical document: they are not enough to declare the PCB faulty.
  • To confirm: Vaillant VMW 24/282-5 R1 — 1 origin: (00712027)
  • To confirm: Vaillant VMI 280-7: and of (00712027)
  • To confirm: Vaillant VMI 320-7 — 1 origin: (00712027)
  • To confirm: Vaillant VMW 282/2-5 R1 — 1 origin: (00712027)
  • To confirm: Vaillant Turbomax Plus 824E / 828E — 1 origin with 734766 (B2B). 130806, which links to 734766, appears as PCB of Turbomax Plus in the Vaillant catalog and in others, without 734766.
  • Do not confuse: 0020034604 — "PCB support" in the breakdown of the VMW 242/2-5 R3 (pos. 11, control box) — It does not appear on the label of this PCB. as a board (families VUW and VU, and a technical sheet of VMW 242/2-5 R3), but none mention 734766 or 00712027.
