How to check if reference 0020092421 is the part for your boiler?
The part reference, model, and equipment revision must be verified against the manufacturer's documentation.
- Look for the main label on your PCB: it should have 0020092421 and the visible code 5172 0143 G.
- Look at the circuit: silkscreen TM-K2 V132_K2 0020080512 and X15 TC-K2. On the terminal sub-board, PM-02 and 0020045379.
- Do not rely solely on 0020080512: the same silkscreen appears on another PCB with label 0020092504; also list 0020092377, unconfirmed. Compare the main label.
- registered: for the VMW ES 296/3-5 R3.
- the labels match, call us at 911 17 77 77 with your boiler model.
Symptoms that require diagnosis in the Vaillant 0020092421
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The boiler is not signaling and the fine fuse on the PCB was blown.
Cause: In a forum, when changing that fuse, another component was damaged: they point to the switched power supply (ICE3A2565) and the driver BD6290.
- 02
The boiler does not ignite: after three attempts without a flame, the fault code F.28 appears and it goes into fault mode.
Cause: Gas shortage or ignition failure, faulty electrodes or damaged PCB.
If it repeats, have a technician check it. Do not attempt to reset multiple times in a row.
- 03
The boiler shuts down during operation and the restart fails (fault code F.29).
Cause: Temporary gas cut, gas recirculation, condensates, or faulty grounding.
Have a technician check it.
- 04
The gas valve does not activate: the boiler stops with fault code F.61.
Cause: Fault in the wiring or in the coils of the gas valve, or faulty PCB.
Have a technician check it.
- 05
Three ignition attempts without flame and the boiler locks out with F28.
Cause: Lack of flame when igniting: gas closed or with low pressure, ignition electrode or burner defective.
Check that gas is reaching and reset once. If it blocks again, have a technician check it.
- 06
The boiler shows F27 with the burner off.
Cause: Moisture in the electronics, faulty PCB or gas valve that does not close completely.
Have a technician check it; do not try to resolve it yourself.
- 07
F65 appears and the boiler's electronics are hot.
Cause: Insufficient ventilation around the boiler or excessive heat from the surroundings.
Ensure the ventilation of the area. If it reappears, have a technician check it.
- 08
F61 or F62 appears related to the gas valve.
Cause: Wiring of the valve, the valve itself or the control board.
Turn off the boiler and do not tamper with it. Have a technician check it.
- 09
The boiler does not ignite: after several attempts, F.28 appears and it gets locked.
Cause: It does not detect flame during ignition: gas, ignition, ionization, or electronics.
Check that the gas valve is open. If it still does not ignite, have a technician check it.
- 10
The boiler shuts down during operation and does not restart; fault code F.29 appears.
Cause: The flame goes out and the retries fail: gas supply interrupted, incorrect grounding, or flue gas recirculation.
Reset a maximum of three times. If it repeats, have a technician check it.
- 11
The boiler stops due to lack of water and fault code F.22 appears.
Cause: Water pressure too low: lack of water, faulty pressure sensor or pump.
Fill the installation according to the manual and bleed the radiators. If the pressure drops again, have a technician check it.
- 12
When starting the heating, F.75 appears and the boiler does not start working.
Cause: Faulty pressure sensor or pump, air in the system or low water.
Bleed the radiators and check the pressure. If it continues, have a technician check it.
- 13
A fault code F.61 to F.67 appears and the boiler locks out.
Cause: Gas valve, defective EEPROM or electronic board.
Do not reset multiple times. Have a technician check it.
Vaillant fault codes that require diagnosis
| Code | Fault | Technical checks |
|---|---|---|
| F.28 | Start-up fault: after three attempts without flame, the boiler goes into fault. | If it repeats, have a technician check it: it could be the gas, the electrodes, or the PCB. |
| F.29 | Flame loss during operation and failed reignition. | If it repeats, have a technician check it: it could be the gas supply, the flue gas recirculation, the grounding, or the ignition. |
| F.61 | The gas valve does not activate properly: fault in the wiring, coils, or PCB. | Have a technician check it. Point to the PCB if the wiring of the gas valve is correct. |
| F.62 | The gas valve takes time to close after the flame goes out. | Have a technician check it: it could be the gas valve, the electrode, or the PCB. |
| F.63 | Fault in the memory of the PCB (EEPROM). | It usually points to the PCB: have a technician check it. |
| F.67 | The flame signal is not valid: fault in the electronics or ionization. | If it goes out when turning on, have a technician check the PCB and the ionization. |
| F27 | Flame signal with the burner off. The boiler locks for safety. | It is usually due to moisture in the electronics or a gas valve that is not closing properly. If it reappears, have a technician check it; it points to the PCB or the valve. |
| F64 | Short circuit or fault in the NTC sensor, or internal fault of the PCB. | If it appears, the PCB or the NTC sensor may fail; have it checked by a technician. |
| F65 | The boiler's electronics are too hot. | It is usually due to insufficient ventilation around the boiler. Ensure proper ventilation; if it reoccurs, have a technician check it. |
| F.22 | Water pressure too low. The boiler shuts down to protect itself. | Check the circuit pressure on the manometer and refill according to the manual. If the pressure drops again, there is a leak or a fault with the pressure sensor or the pump: have a technician check it. |
| F.75 | When starting the pump, the pressure in the circuit does not rise. | Check the pressure and bleed the radiators. If the fault code persists, it points to the pressure sensor or the pump: have a technician check it. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
