Cause: The motor bearing is worn out and the rotor rubs or vibrates while rotating.
With the boiler unplugged, turn the rotor by hand and check if it is difficult to turn or if it makes a friction sound; if it turns freely, the noise may be coming from another part.

Cause: The motor may be seized or have damaged windings, which is common after years of humidity and soot on the shaft.
Check with a multimeter that power is reaching the connector of the fan before declaring it faulty; sometimes a fuse or the pressure switch itself blows.
