Common symptoms and faults

The boiler tries to ignite but does not generate a spark and locks out after a few seconds.
Cause: The spark train does not produce the necessary arc to ignite the pilot flame or the main burner.
Look through the peephole to see if there is a spark at the electrode when starting; if there is nothing, first check the high voltage cable and its connection.

A strange clicking or buzzing sound is heard in the burner just before the boiler locks out.
Cause: The ignition component fails intermittently and generates an irregular arc instead of a clean spark.
Check that the electrode is clean and has the correct gap, and that it is not touching the ground, before declaring the part defective.

The boiler locks out in cold due to ignition failure and needs to be reset every time.
Cause: Without a reliable spark, the control board does not detect flame within the safety time and cuts off the gas supply.
Also check the gas supply and the condition of the gas valve before replacing the spark electrode assembly: the symptom is similar in both cases.

Sometimes it ignites on the first try and other times it gets blocked, without a clear pattern.
Cause: The spark train fault is intermittent, typical of moisture, dirt, or internal degradation of the component.
Repeat the cold start three or four times in a row and note if the fault occurs consistently or only sometimes.
