The hot water takes a long time to come out or only arrives lukewarm.
Cause: If the water valve does not fully open the flow to the domestic hot water circuit, there is insufficient flow to the heat exchanger to heat properly.
Check the cold water inlet pressure in the boiler: if it's below the manufacturer's minimum, the valve may not activate even if it's functioning properly.
The heating shuts off by itself every time a hot water tap is opened in the house.
Cause: The water valve should prioritize domestic hot water over heating, and if it gets stuck in that position, it won't allow the heating circuit to operate.
Close the tap and wait a couple of minutes to see if the heating recovers on its own: if it doesn't come back, the part might be seized.
There is a constant drip at the base of the boiler, more noticeable when using domestic hot water.
Cause: The internal seals of the water valve lose their tightness over the years, and the dripping becomes more pronounced with use.
Mark the drip level with a marker and check if it increases right when you open the domestic hot water tap: this points more clearly to this valve.
A buzzing or vibration is heard in the area of the valve when the hot water runs.
Cause: A worn spring or diaphragm inside the water valve does not cushion the flow well and generates that noise.
Reduce the flow at the tap and check if the buzzing decreases in intensity: if it disappears completely, it's advisable to first check the mains pressure.
