Fagor Contract CA / FA 20 Flow Switch (MU1288400)
Flow detector (flow switch) installed in the domestic water circuit of Fagor boilers, which detects the opening of the tap to activate the burner and produce hot water. It should be replaced if the boiler does not start when hot water is requested or if the supply is intermittent. The manufacturer and part reference are not specified; only its compatibility with the indicated Fagor models is known.

How to check if ref. MU1288400 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Locate the reference printed on the body of the flow meter you have installed: it should indicate MU1288400.
- Check your boiler model on the nameplate and look for it in the list of compatible models on this page.
- Compare the connections and the body with the original part before installing.
- If you have any doubts, send us a photo of the screen printing via WhatsApp and we'll confirm it for you before you purchase.
Symptoms and faults resolved by flow meter MU1288400
The flow meter detects the passage of water to activate the domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
When opening the hot water tap, the boiler remains silent: you don't hear the burner ignite.
Cause: Without the signal from the flow detector, the control unit doesn't know there is a demand for domestic hot water and doesn't initiate ignition.
Bleed a little air from the circuit and check that the flow at the tap is normal, not just a drip, before replacing the part.
The hot water comes and goes, as if someone were turning the tap on and off even though no one is touching it.
Cause: The water flow through the detector may not be stable enough to keep the contact closed, causing the boiler to turn the burner on and off in a loop.
Note if the problem improves when you open the tap more; if the low flow is the trigger, the detector is the main suspect.
There is plenty of mains pressure, but the boiler does not produce hot water at any tap in the house.
Cause: A fault in the main flow switch prevents the domestic hot water from starting up throughout the installation, even though the rest of the boiler's functions are working fine.
Confirm that the fault occurs with all the taps and not just one, to rule out a specific issue with that outlet.
The symptom worsens over time: before it took a while to provide hot water, and now it doesn't provide it at all.
Cause: The internal mechanism of the detector gradually seizes up due to lime or dirt until it stops activating.
If you noticed an increasing delay in turning on before it completely failed, it's advisable to check it with the part disassembled before declaring it dead.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
