How to check if ref. 160928 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 160928. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the circulator pump 160928 resolves.
The circulation pump circulates the water in the heating circuit. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The boiler ignites the burner, but the water in the radiators does not heat up.
Cause: The burner is working well, but the pump is not circulating water through the circuit.
Touch the supply and return heating pipes: if one is hot and the other is cold, the pump is to blame.
- 02
The pump makes a loud noise or vibrates when operating.
Cause: The impeller may be partially blocked or the shaft worn, which is common after extensive use.
Listen to see if the noise changes when adjusting the pump speed; if it persists at all speeds, the problem lies with the shaft or the impeller.
- 03
Moisture or dripping appears in the area where the pump connects to the boiler.
Cause: The mechanical seal of the shaft wears out over time and starts to leak water.
Dry the area well and check in cold if the leak reappears before changing the pump; sometimes it's just a loose gasket.
- 04
The boiler display shows a fault code related to the pump or circulation.
Cause: The electronics detect that the flow or pressure sensor does not sense water movement.
Note the exact code and check it in the manual before purchasing; some circulation errors are due to air in the circuit, not the pump.
Fault codes from Vaillant that this part resolves.
| Code | Fault | Diagnosis and solution |
|---|---|---|
| F.75 | When the pump starts, a sufficient pressure increase is not detected. | The circulation pump 160928 blocked/faulty does not generate the pressure increase that the sensor should register; check that the pump rotates and consumes, and that test P.0 shows Δp at start-up. |
| F.23 | Excessive flow-return temperature difference (insufficient circulation). | If the pump does not circulate flow, the supply heats up quickly and the return remains cold, causing a large ΔT; check the pump's performance/speed (D.14/D.19), temperatures, and bleed/filter of the hydraulic block. |
| F.24 | Temperature increase too rapid. | With the pump blocked or with low performance, the water does not circulate and the boiler temperature rises quickly; check the pump rotation and consumption, bleed the circuit, and check pressure/flow rate. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
