Expansion Vessel for Chaffoteaux Boiler MC 2 24 FF
Expansion vessel for the heating circuit of Chaffoteaux boilers from the Aludra Delta, Calydra, Celtic, Centora, Elexia Comfort, MC 2 24 FF, Nectra, and Niagara Delta ranges. It absorbs the expansion of the water in the circuit when heated and prevents overpressure. It is checked or replaced when the boiler repeatedly loses pressure or when water leaks appear from the safety valve.

Can't see your model or have questions? The printed reference takes precedence. How to check it · Send us a photo via WhatsApp.
How to check if it is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference —. If it is not visible, do not identify the part by its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the expansion vessel resolves
The expansion vessel absorbs the expansion of water when heated. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
There are loud banging noises in the pipes when starting or stopping the heating pump.
Cause: The expansion vessel does not cushion pressure changes, causing water hammer in the system.
Check if the vessel is cold like the rest of the piping or if, when pressed, it does not give way because it is full of water.
- 02
The tank is very heavy and when you hit it, it doesn't sound hollow anywhere.
Cause: The membrane has ruptured and the vessel has filled with water instead of maintaining the air chamber.
Tap the glass up and down with your knuckles: if it sounds equally solid across the entire surface, it is flooded.
- 03
Water is leaking from the discharge pipe of the safety valve almost constantly.
Cause: The vessel does not absorb the expansion of the water, which causes the pressure to rise and the valve to drain to protect the system.
Before replacing the expansion vessel, check that the safety valve and its gasket are not worn, as they can also leak on their own.
- 04
The boiler indicates a pressure fault and locks out, although the pressure gauge seems correct when cold.
Cause: An unbalanced vessel allows the pressure to fluctuate too much when heating, and the control unit shuts down for safety due to those spikes.
Note the cold pressure and check it again just as you start the heating; if it rises significantly in a few minutes, suspect the expansion vessel.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
