Grundfos Circulating Pump UPS15-50 ZSC/ZWC/ZWE/ZWN24 Ref. 8716010880
Grundfos UPS15-50 circulator pump, with three speeds (40/60/80W), used in boilers of the ZSC, ZWC, ZWE, and ZWN24 series. It moves the water in the heating circuit; check if it is not circulating, making noise, or not starting. It operates at 230V~50Hz, with IP44 protection and a maximum pressure of 0.3 MPa. The PCB code is 8716010880.

How to check if the ref. 8716010880 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 8716010880. If it is not visible, do not identify the part by its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the circulation pump 8716010880 resolves.
The circulation pump circulates the water in the heating circuit. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The radiators are warm or cold even though the boiler turns on and the burner is working.
Cause: The pump rotor is stuck or the impeller is not spinning, so the water is not moving through the circuit.
Turn off the boiler and bleed the air from the circuit. Increase the pump to maximum speed before declaring it faulty.
- 02
The pump makes a loud buzzing noise when starting, but it doesn't seem to be turning.
Cause: The rotor is blocked, usually due to scale or rust accumulated after a period of inactivity.
Disconnect the boiler, remove the central plug from the motor, and check with a screwdriver if the shaft turns freely; often it gets released without changing the pump.
- 03
A fault code related to the pump or circulation appears on the screen.
Cause: The control unit detects that the circulator is not responding or there is no pressure differential.
Check that the pump receives 230V at its terminals before declaring it faulty; if there is no voltage, the problem lies in the wiring or the PCB, not in the pump.
- 04
There is a water leak or dripping at the base of the pump.
Cause: The mechanical seal of the shaft has worn out and is allowing water to pass through slowly.
Dry the area well and observe after a heating cycle: if the moisture reappears right at the axis, confirm that it is the seal and not a gasket of the casing.
Fault codes from Junkers that this part resolves.
| Code | Fault | Diagnosis and solution |
|---|---|---|
| E9 | Thermal block or flue gas temperature limiter triggered (overheating). | If the circulating pump is blocked/faulty, there is no flow, the water in the heat exchanger overheats, and the limiter is activated, displaying E9. Verify by activating heating and checking that the pump rotates and delivers flow (∆T supply/return and consumption/voltage at terminals), bleeding the system if necessary. |
| d4 | Overtemperature: the difference/gradient between flow and return exceeds the permitted limit (heating). | A pump that does not circulate or has insufficient flow causes the flow temperature to rise very quickly compared to the return, and the control generates d4. Check for abnormal ∆T and test the pump (voltage at terminals, rotation/unblocking, and bleed), as well as the bypass. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
