The filling valve allows water to refill the heating circuit. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults

Water is leaking right in the area of the filling valve, even though the rest of the circuit is fine.
Cause: The gasket or the internal mechanism of the valve loses tightness due to use and the continuous passage of pressurized water.
Gently tighten the inlet and outlet fitting; sometimes the dripping comes from a loose joint and not from the valve itself.

You open the filling valve and the circuit pressure does not increase, it stays the same.
Cause: The internal mechanism does not allow mains water to pass into the circuit, due to a blockage or a fault in the internal valve of the key.
Check that the main water supply shut-off valve is open and that there is no clogged pre-filter before assuming the filling valve is faulty.

After refilling, you can't completely close the valve and water keeps flowing.
Cause: The internal sealing seat wears out or gets limescale deposits and no longer seals completely.
Turn the key slowly to the stop and check if the dripping stops completely or just reduces; if it only reduces, confirm the wear of the seal.

The pressure gradually increases without you having touched the valve.
Cause: A faulty internal closure allows a small continuous flow from the network into the circuit, even though it appears to be closed.
Close the mains water inlet valve to the circuit for a few hours and observe if the boiler pressure continues to rise; if it keeps rising, confirm the internal leak.
