  Cause: One of the internal seals of the gas valve does not open or close consistently, and the system shuts down for safety.

  Repeat several consecutive ignition attempts and note whether the fault is always the same or varies; this helps to distinguish between the flame electrode valve.

  There is a smell of gas near the gas valve, especially when the boiler is off.

  Cause: The internal sealing of the gas valve has failed and allows gas to pass through even when it is closed.

  Apply soapy water to the threaded connections before confirming the leak, as sometimes it's a joint and not the valve.

  The flame is weak or sooty even though the boiler is working.

  Cause: The outlet pressure regulator of the gas valve does not maintain the working pressure within the correct range.
