Cause: The Honeywell gas valve does not open the gas flow when the ignition control S456 gives the command.
Check that the gas valve receives power at the exact moment of ignition, not before or after, before replacing it.

The equipment locks up just as it starts, almost without giving time to see the flame.
Cause: If the valve does not respond in time, the S456 control does not detect flame and immediately locks the unit for safety.
Reset the lock and observe if it takes the same amount of time to lock each time; an irregular pattern points more to the electrode or wiring than to the valve.

A gas smell is detected in the area of the gas valve, even with the boiler turned off.
Cause: The valve has lost internal sealing and allows gas to pass through even when it is closed.
Ventilate the area and apply soapy water to the joints before confirming that the leak is coming from the valve and not from a nearby connection.

A click is heard when trying to turn on, but the boiler does not ignite.
Cause: The coil of the gas valve activates the mechanism, but it does not fully open the gas flow.
Note if the click repeats in each attempt before changing the gas valve, as it helps to differentiate a mechanical fault from an electrical one.
