  Cause: The seat does not seal properly because there is dirt or scale between the spring and the shutter after previous use.

  Actuate the manual bleed lever several times to try to remove that dirt before considering that the valve is damaged.

  The valve has tripped once and since then it continues to leak, although the pressure has returned to normal levels.

  Cause: When opened abruptly, small debris is dragged that remains on the seat and prevents a good seal.

  Measure the cold filling pressure of the circuit: if it is close to the gas valve's triggering point, the same pressure spike may occur repeatedly and seem like a fault of the part.

  The circuit loses pressure every day without any noticeable leaks in the radiators, bleed valves, or pipes.

  Cause: An internal leak in the safety valve allows water to escape drop by drop into the drain without being visible.

  Follow the discharge pipe from the valve to the drain and check if it is damp or has limescale marks: this indicates that the leak comes from there and not from another part of the circuit.

  The valve drips water just when the boiler heats up and stops doing so when it cools down.

  Cause: The valve opens because the actual pressure in the circuit exceeds its safety limit at that moment.

  Before replacing it, check the air pressure of the expansion vessel with the system empty of water: if it has lost pressure, the circuit will not cushion the expansion and may force the valve even if it is in good condition.
