The burner does not ignite on any attempt.
Cause: The transformer does not deliver the necessary current for the electrode to generate the arc.
Check that the high voltage cable is properly connected at both ends before replacing the part.

The ignition attempt can be heard, but the burner does not ignite.
Cause: The transformer may be producing a spark, but it is too weak to ignite the gas and air mixture.
Visually check for a spark at the electrode during the attempt and observe whether it is continuous or intermittent.

After a failed attempt, the boiler locks out and does not start until you reset it.
Cause: It is the safety response of the control board when it does not detect a flame during the ignition time.
Test the reset and observe if the fault always occurs at the same point in the ignition cycle.

The boiler starts up well when cold but fails after running for a while.
Cause: The transformer insulation deteriorates with heat and loses output current when hot.
Repeat the ignition test with the boiler cold and again after prolonged use to see if the fault depends on the temperature.
