Saunier Duval PCB SD 235 ME

Saunier Duval PCB SD 235 ME

Stock · 5 units

In Saunier Duval boilers, the SD 235 ME PCB is the component that controls the ignition, burner modulation, pump, and system safety features. When it malfunctions, the boiler may fail to start, lock out, or operate erratically. Users may notice issues such as fault code F.42, which indicates a failure in the heating element, or F.70, which signals an invalid product code. This PCB is compatible with the Saunier Duval SD 235 ME range, among others. It should be replaced when these symptoms or fault codes are detected.

Guide

How to check if ref. 05710700 is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 05710700. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the PCB 05710700 resolves.

The PCB controls the ignition, modulation, and safety features of the boiler. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The boiler does not ignite and the display is off.

Cause: If the transformer on the PCB fails, power does not reach the control circuits.

Measure the output voltage of the transformer with a multimeter (it should be around 18V); if there is nothing, check the 100 mA fuse, which usually blows first.

  • 02

The boiler turns off by itself and only works again when manually reset.

Cause: A fuse that repeatedly blows due to overload causes the control board to lose power and needs to be reset.

Note how long it takes to trip again after the reset; if it is very quick, the problem lies in a component connected to the PCB, not in the fuse.

  • 03

The display flickers or resets itself occasionally.

Cause: An intermittent drop in the transformer current causes micro-cuts that the PCB interprets as resets.

With the boiler running, check if the flashing coincides with the pump starting or another load; if so, it indicates that the transformer is not handling the load properly.

CodeFaultDiagnosis and solution
F.42Resistance fault coding (probably in combination with F.70)The PCB can cause F.42 if the coding resistor (gas type/power) integrated in the PCB fails or if, after replacing the PCB, the DSN has not been reprogrammed; verify by measuring the resistance on the PCB and adjusting the product code (e.g., d.93).
F.70Invalid product code (DSN)This appears when both the display and PCB are replaced simultaneously and the DSN is not reconfigured, or if the coding resistor on the PCB is incorrect; check the DSN reading and the coding resistor on the board, and reprogram according to the manual.
F.97Main PCB self-check faultThe internal self-test of the main PCB fails due to an electronic fault in the board; check power supply and connectors, and if it persists, replace the PCB.
F.64Electronic fault / NTCA short circuit/plausibility in NTC can be correct, but if the sensors and wiring are OK, the origin is the electronics of the PCB (analogue inputs/reference); check NTCs and, if they are within range, check/replace the PCB.
F.27Safety shutdown: incorrect flame detectionThe flame control electronics on the PCB can detect spurious flame due to moisture/leakage or a fault in the ionisation circuit on the board; check the electrode, grounding, and if they are correct, verify the detection stage on the PCB.
F.62Fault: gas valve control / delayed disconnectionThe valve driver/relay on the PCB may not cut off in time or may stick, causing a delay in closing; check voltage/timings on the valve and, if the valve assembly is correct, the cause is the electronics of the PCB.
F.61Error: gas valve controlThe PCB can cause F.61 due to a fault in the control circuit of the gas valve (driver/relay); check the wiring and coils of the valve, and if they are correct, replace the PCB.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
