Chaffoteaux Plate Heat Exchanger MC 2 24 FF - ALTO UP CE18.1am
Plate heat exchanger for the domestic hot water circuit of the boiler, manufactured by ALTO UP (unit code CE18.1am marked on the label). It is compatible with several Chaffoteaux models, including the MC 2 24 FF. It is replaced when it loses tightness between circuits, becomes clogged with scale, or stops heating the domestic water consistently.

How to check if it is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference —. If it is not visible, do not identify the part by its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the plate heat exchanger resolves
The plate heat exchanger transfers heat to the domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The hot water takes time to come out, it comes out lukewarm or changes temperature without touching the faucet.
Cause: The heat exchanger plates are covered in scale, and the cold water does not always receive the same heat when passing through.
Measure the hardness of the water in the area and check if the boiler has a filter or if it has been years since it was descaled; this is the most common step before considering the part faulty.
- 02
Humidity or a drip appears at the base of the boiler, near where the heat exchanger is mounted.
Cause: The joints between the plates give way with daily use and lose tightness.
Dry the area well, turn on the boiler for domestic hot water and heating separately, and observe which function the dripping appears before replacing anything.
- 03
The circuit pressure drops on its own over the days even though no water is seen on the floor.
Cause: An internal leak in the heat exchanger can allow water to pass between circuits without exiting the boiler.
Fill to the working pressure, mark the level, and check the manometer after 24-48 hours without using the boiler.
- 04
The boiler makes a buzzing or rattling noise when requesting hot water.
Cause: The water is forced to pass between plates partially obstructed by limescale, generating turbulence and noise.
Note if the noise occurs only when opening the hot water tap and not during heating; this way you can point to the heat exchanger and not to the pump.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.

- The actual manufacturer is ALTO UP (marked on the part itself). Chaffoteaux is the brand of the boiler where it is installed, not the manufacturer of the heat exchanger.
- The power (28 kW) that appears in some sources only has an independent source and is not included here as a confirmed data point.
