Check that the bulb is fully inserted into the well and hasn't come loose due to the boiler's vibrations.

The dial is broken or the glass is cracked, and the scale cannot be read.
Cause: A blow or the passage of time cracks the glass or loosens the sphere from its mount
Before replacing it, check if the needle responds when the boiler is heated, even if the glass is damaged, to see if the mechanism still works.

The needle gets stuck at one end of the scale, either up or down.
Cause: With the capillary tube devoid of liquid, the needle falls by gravity to the lowest stop on the dial.
