Guide

How to check if ref. 05602400 is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 05602400. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the ignition transformer 05602400 resolves.

The ignition transformer generates the high voltage for the spark of the electrodes. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The boiler shows no signs of life: no indicator light, no display, and no attempt to ignite.

Cause: The transformer is not supplying the current that the PCB needs, so the electronics are left without power.

Before replacing it, measure the voltage at the secondary terminals with the boiler plugged in using a multimeter; if there is no reading, also check that power is reaching the primary.

  • 02

The differential switch in the house trips as soon as the boiler is connected.

Cause: If the insulation between the primary and secondary has failed, there may be a ground leak that triggers the protection.

Disconnect the boiler and check if the differential trips again with it connected, before considering the transformer good.

  • 03

The boiler resets itself or loses the remote control intermittently, without a clear pattern.

Cause: A winding with a weak point results in an unstable secondary voltage under load, even though it measures well when unloaded.

With the boiler running, carefully move the bundle of wires near the transformer and check if the fault appears; also verify that the connectors are properly fitted.

  • 04

The fuse blows again as soon as it is replaced.

Cause: A short circuit in any component powered by the secondary requires more current than the winding can provide.

Before touching the transformer, disconnect each of the elements powered by the secondary one by one and check if the fuse holds.

Fault codes from Saunier Duval that this spare part resolves.

CodeFaultDiagnosis and solution
F.26Fault: gas valve not functioning. The ignition control board governs the stepper motor of the gas valve; if its control stage fails, the valve does not respond and the unit locks out. Verification: measure the control signal to the stepper motor during the ignition attempt; if there is no signal and the wiring/valve assembly are OK, the board is defective.
F.27Safety shutdown: incorrect flame detection.Fault in the flame control electronics integrated in the PCB (ionisation), which simulates or fails to detect a flame. Verification: check ionisation current (≈2–8 μA) and grounding; if electrodes/wiring are correct and the issue persists, replace the PCB.
F.28Start-up fault: ignition failed. If the ignition PCB does not excite the spark transformer or does not manage ionisation, the start-up fails despite having correct gas. Verification: check HV output to ignition transformer and ionisation signal; if they are missing and gas/electrodes are OK, the PCB is the cause.
F.61Gas valve control/activation fault. The output stage of the PCB controls the valve; an electronic defect prevents its correct activation. Verification: measure the control voltage to the valve during ignition; if it is non-existent or erratic and the valve/wiring are correct, the PCB is faulty.
F.62Gas valve fault: disconnection delay. The circuit of the PCB should cut off the gas valve when turning off; if the stage remains 'stuck' or delays the cut-off, F.62 appears. Verification: check that the gas valve loses power instantly at the end of the flame; if not and the valve is not jammed, the PCB is the cause.
F.67Fault: electronics/flame (flame signal not plausible). The electronic processing of the ionisation signal on the PCB returns incoherent values, causing a lockout. Verification: rule out ionisation/electrodes/ground, and if the implausible reading persists, replace the ignition control board.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
