The FIME GR02848 extractor is a flue fan designed for Biasi Garda and Riva boilers. Its function is to expel combustion gases and generate the necessary draft for the boiler to start. When it fails, the boiler may not ignite or may lock out due to a fault in the flue gas evacuation, displaying the fault code 05E: Flue pressure switch anomaly. Cause: The bearing or the turbine of the extractor wears out with use and loses its original balance.
Listen if the noise changes when touching the boiler casing: it may be transmitted vibration and not from the extractor itself.

The extractor stops halfway through the ignition cycle and the boiler locks out.
Cause: A fault in the motor or its power supply causes it to lose speed and the system to shut down for safety.
Check for any dust or lint buildup in the turbine, as it can sometimes prevent it from spinning even if the motor is not actually faulty.

The extractor takes longer than usual to start or struggles to gain speed.
Cause: The aging motor or one with a slightly stuck shaft requires more initial thrust to start up.
Check the mains voltage and ensure there are no power drops when starting other devices before attributing it to the extractor.
