Honeywell Gas Valve VK8515M For Supra Compact 21 EI - Ref. 9158878
Honeywell gas valve model VK8515M, according to its label. It regulates the gas supply to the boiler burner. It is replaced when the boiler does not ignite, it locks up on startup, the solenoid does not close properly, or there is a gas leak. Compatible with Supra Compact 21 EI, SPC 21 EI, SP 21/24/27, and related ED/EDYCO models.

How to check if ref. 9158878 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 9158878. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the gas valve 9158878 resolves.
The gas valve regulates and modulates the gas flow to the burner. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The boiler does not ignite, or it tries to start and immediately locks out.
Cause: The gas valve does not open the gas flow in time or the solenoid does not receive the signal, and the control board locks out due to lack of flame.
Check that there is power to the gas valve at the moment of ignition and that the ionization electrode is clean before declaring it faulty.
- 02
It smells like gas near the boiler even when it is turned off.
Cause: The solenoid of the gas valve does not close completely and allows a residual leak.
With the boiler turned off and the gas valve closed, check if the smell persists to rule out that it comes from a joint or the connection pipe and not from the gas valve.
- 03
The boiler shuts down by itself as soon as it starts, as if it gets scared.
Cause: The electromagnet opens but does not maintain a firm contact, and the gas valve cuts off the gas when partially lit.
Note if the fault occurs at the same moment in the ignition cycle; that repetitive pattern points more to the gas valve than to an intermittent flame fault.
- 04
A gas leak has been detected directly on the body of the gas valve.
Cause: The internal tightness has been lost, usually due to wear of the diaphragm or the solenoid seat.
With soapy water, locate if the leak is coming from the valve housing and not from a nearby thread or joint before replacing it.
Fault codes for Cointra that this part resolves.
| Code | Fault | Diagnosis and solution |
|---|---|---|
| A09 | Gas valve anomaly | The gas valve may be faulty or have interrupted actuator/wiring, preventing its opening or modulation; check the continuity of the wiring and power supply to the actuator and ensure that the valve opens on demand. |
| A16 | Gas valve anomaly | Fault in the valve or its actuator/wiring; check continuity of the modulating actuator and presence of control signal from the PCB, replacing the valve if it does not operate correctly. |
| F50 | Gas valve anomaly | Modulating actuator error (wiring interrupted) or faulty valve; check continuity of the actuator/coil and control voltage, and replace the valve if it does not respond. |
| A62 | There is no communication between the control board and the gas valve. | The valve may be faulty or not responding to the signal from the control board; check connectors and wiring between the PCB and the valve, presence of control signal, and replace the valve if it does not communicate. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
