Flue Gas Extractor Boiler Euroline ZW 23 AE. Ref. 87072040010
The Euroline ZW 23 AE boiler includes the flue gas extractor, which is responsible for evacuating combustion gases and generating the necessary draft for the boiler to start. If this part fails, you will notice that the boiler does not ignite or locks out due to issues with flue gas evacuation, and fault codes C6, C7, or C1 may appear. This extractor is compatible with models such as the ZW 23 AE, ZW 20 AME, and several WR 250 and WR 325 water heaters, among others. It is recommended to replace it when it shows faults or affects the operation of the boiler.

How to check if the reference 87072040010 is the part for your boiler.
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 87072040010. If it is not visible, do not identify the part by its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the extractor 87072040010 resolves.
The extractor evacuates the combustion gases with forced draft. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The extractor has difficulty starting; it seems to lack power when turning on.
Cause: The motor loses starting power due to bearing or capacitor wear, and does not reach the necessary speed for ignition.
Check if the impeller starts on its own after a slight tap on the casing; it is a typical sign of a worn bearing.
- 02
A vibration or unusual noise is perceived in the area of the extractor that did not exist before.
Cause: The impeller may be unbalanced due to accumulated dirt on the blades or due to contact with the casing.
With the boiler off, turn the impeller by hand if accessible and check for any hard spots or metal rubbing.
- 03
The boiler is locking out with a warning related to the flue gas evacuation.
Cause: If the extractor does not move enough air flow, the extraction monitoring system does not give the clear signal and the control unit cuts off the gas.
Check that the flue pipe and the external terminal are not blocked by snow, leaves, or a nest before confirming the fault of the fan.
- 04
The extractor starts but stops halfway through the ignition cycle.
Cause: It could be an intermittent fault of the motor or its connections, which cuts off before completing the gas sweep prior to ignition.
Check if the cut always occurs at the same point in the cycle; if so, focus more on the extractor than on another component.
Fault codes from Junkers that this part resolves.
| Code | Fault | Diagnosis and solution |
|---|---|---|
| C6 | The fan is not working. | The extractor is blocked/faulty or does not start, it does not generate depression and the control does not detect flow; check the start-up, voltage/power supply, and free rotation of the fan and the closure of the flue pressure switch. |
| C7 | Fan problem (fan not working). | No tachometric/speed signal from the fan or it is not rotating; check power supply to the fan, tachometer signal/wiring, and replace the extractor if there is no signal. |
| C1 | Airflow stopped during operation. | The extractor stops or does not maintain RPM, the depression drops, and the control cuts off; check that the fan rotates continuously and that the pressure switch closes during demand. |
| The reset button flashes once every 4 s (0.25 Hz), and the 90 °C indicator light also flashes (Euroline/ZW 23 AE). | Other types of fault: differential pressure switch / air ducts. | If the fan does not generate depression, the pressure switch does not close and this warning occurs; check the start and rotation of the extractor, the pressure switch hoses, and its switching. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
