  Cause: The transformer does not deliver the high voltage necessary for the electrode to produce the spark.

  Check that the transformer connector is properly fitted and free of oxidation before replacing it.

  There is a smell of gas when attempting to ignite, but no spark is heard or seen.

  Cause: Gas continues to reach the burner through the gas valve even though the transformer does not generate the spark that ignites it.

  Shut off the gas and ventilate the area; do not attempt to ignite multiple times in a row without confirmed spark.

  The display shows a lock due to ignition failure after several attempts.

  Cause: The control unit counts the attempts without flame and locks the boiler for safety when it does not detect ionization.

  Note if the lockout occurs consistently quickly in each attempt; this points more to the spark than to an intermittent gas failure.

  The spark can be seen or heard, but very weak, as if it lacks the strength to jump cleanly.

  Cause: A damaged winding in the transformer reduces the output voltage even though it still produces some spark.

  Check the distance between the electrode and the ground before changing the transformer: an incorrect gap also weakens the spark.
