Stock · 3 units

If your boiler does not start, locks out, or exhibits erratic behavior, you may need the Vaillant VC/VCM/VU/VUW 142-282 PCB. This part controls the ignition, burner modulation, pump, and safety features of the boiler. When it fails, you might see fault codes such as F.61, F.62, F.63, F.64, or F.65. It is compatible with several models, including the VCM 182/1 E, VCM 242/1 E, VCM 282/1 E, and VC 240/1, among others. Its replacement is necessary when these operational issues occur.

Guide

How to check if ref. 130438 is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 130438. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the PCB 130438 resolves.

The PCB controls the ignition, modulation, and safety features of the boiler. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The boiler does not start: it does not attempt to ignite.

Cause: Without the PCB, the gas valve opening and the fan startup are not triggered.

Check that the fan spins freely and that there is voltage at the terminal block of the PCB; if nothing moves, suspect the fuse or the power supply.

  • 02

The display shows a different fault code every few minutes.

Cause: If the microprocessor on the PCB fails, it can give erratic readings from several sensors at once.

Disconnect the boiler for a couple of minutes and note if the fault code repeats or changes each time.

  • 03

The circulation pump never stops, even with the boiler turned off.

Cause: The PCB controls the relay of the pump, and if it gets stuck, the pump keeps running.

Check that it is not a post-circulation adjustment activated in the programmer before considering the PCB.

  • 04

The remote control or the modulating thermostat is not communicating: the boiler is not receiving settings.

Cause: The communication with the thermostat is on the PCB, and if it fails, the boiler operates with default values.

Check the cable and the terminals of the communication bus on the PCB before replacing it.

CodeFaultDiagnosis and solution
F.61Gas valve activation error. The relay/output stage of the PCB (auxiliary/main) does not correctly switch the gas valve. Check the power supply to the valve at the terminals, continuity of the harness, and if everything is correct, replace the PCB to confirm.
F.62Delay in gas valve disconnection. The PCB keeps the gas valve energized longer than it should (control/relay fault). Check that the valve closes properly and that the wiring is correct; if the issue persists, measure the control voltage and confirm by replacing the PCB.
F.63Fault: EEPROM (electronics).Corruption/defect of the EEPROM memory on the PCB. Check resets and parameters; the standard check is to replace the board with a new or programmed one to rule out the fault.
F.64Fault in the electronics/NTC.Fault in the measurement/ADC stage or sensor power supply on the PCB. Check NTC and wiring; if the sensors measure correctly but the fault code persists, the cause is the PCB.
F.65Fault: electronics temperature too high. The thermal sensor on the PCB detects overheating or the PCB itself is damaged. Check ventilation/location and temperatures; if they are normal and the error repeats, replace the PCB.
F.67Fault: electronics/flame (flame signal not plausible). The detection/ionization stage on the PCB delivers an incoherent signal. Check the electrode, cable, and polarity; if everything is correct, the fault is in the PCB.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
