The boiler does not ignite the burner on any attempt.
Cause: If the transformer does not deliver the current that the ignition system needs, it cannot generate the spark.
Check that the boiler fuse is not blown and that power is reaching the transformer before replacing it.

The ignition intermittently fails, sometimes it lights and other times it doesn't.
Cause: An unstable power output from the transformer causes irregular ignition.
Record if the fault always occurs at the same point in the start-up cycle, it helps to differentiate the electrode transformer.

The boiler locks out after several ignition attempts without achieving a flame.
Cause: Without stable power to the ignition system, the control board exhausts the retries and locks out for safety.
Check the lock code on the display; if it indicates a flame fault and not a flue pressure switch fault, point to the ignition circuit.

There is no arc or noticeable sparking at the electrode during the ignition attempt.
Cause: No output current from the transformer means insufficient energy reaches the electrode to produce the arc.
With the boiler in ignition test mode, check if there is a visible spark at the electrode before declaring the transformer faulty.
