A code guides the diagnosis: it does not confirm by itself a faulty partF.28 and F.028 do not interchange between generations. The following tables show only the identified models and documents.

Find your Vaillant model

Check the complete designation in the documentation or accessible identification, without opening the casing. Each guide retains the details, diagrams, and limits of its own generation.

Do you have atmoTEC plus or ecoTEC plus /5-5?

They are different generations. Their specific articles are preserved and their tables have not been incorporated into this search engine, because we do not have a verified exact manual for those variants.

Vaillant fault codes by model

Look for the complete code or a word from the warning. If it does not appear, check the variant and its manual: the absence in this selection does not mean that the equipment cannot display it.

What to do with the warning

Note the complete code, the pressure displayed by the unit, and whether it affects heating, domestic hot water, or both. Keep a photo of the screen and the reference of the appliance. Do not open the boiler or intervene in gas, electricity, or combustion. Only perform the external checks allowed by the user manual; if the fault persists, request professional diagnosis.

turboTEC plus: cómo distinguir los avisos

In the Vaillant turboTEC plus covered by manual 0020029213_01, fault codes F.22, F.23, and F.24 indicate a lack of water or insufficient circulation detected through pressure/temperature; F.28 indicates that the unit failed to ignite upon starting, and F.29 indicates that the flame was lost during operation and subsequent attempts failed. These are indications to guide the diagnosis: none of them alone identifies a faulty spare part.

Check the variant before using the table.

The manual includes several turboTEC plus and pro models, with codes and details that depend on the variant. Confirm in the accessible identification that your unit is turboTEC plus VMW and note the full designation. Do not use this table for ecoTEC or for any other generation just because it also shows F codes.

F.22, F.23 and F.24: difference between the alerts

  • F.22: the manual relates it to lack of water or dry operation; among the possible causes, it mentions low water, a switch/sensor, wiring, or pump issues.
  • F.23: indicates an excessive difference between the supply and return temperatures; the manual addresses circulation problems, among other causes.
  • F.24: indicates a temperature rise that is too rapid; air may be entering the unit, there may be low pressure, or a pump with insufficient performance may be involved.

The causes are listed in the manufacturer's diagnostic table for specialized personnel. From the outside, you can note the code, the pressure displayed by the equipment, the heating status, and whether the radiators are heating normally. Do not assume that the pump is blocked or manipulate the circuit based on the code.

F.28 and F.29: ignition failure or flame loss

The manual distinguishes between failed ignition at startup (F.28) and flame loss with subsequent failed attempts (F.29). It includes several possible causes related to supply, ignition, flame detection, and control. Do not check internal components or repeat resets to force the start. If the code persists, request a review and inform whether it affects heating, domestic hot water, or both.

What information to provide?

Send a legible photo of the code, the complete variant, when it appears, and any recent changes in pressure or service. The manual also documents sensor and electronic codes: those alerts require professional diagnosis; they do not equate to a confirmation of spare part.
