Honeywell gas valve VK4105G 1138.4 mounted on Fagor boilers FE-25 NOX and FE-25 NOX/1 N. It regulates and cuts off the gas flow to the burner. Cause: The valve is not receiving power to the coil or it is not opening, so gas does not reach the burner at startup.
Measure with a multimeter if current is reaching the gas valve connector during the ignition attempt; if it is not, check the PCB and the wiring first.

There is a smell of gas near the boiler, more noticeable around the valve area.
Cause: A fault in the internal closure of the valve can allow a minimal amount of gas to pass through even with the boiler turned off.
Check the gas inlet and outlet connections with soapy water before replacing the gas valve; a leak at a joint can be resolved without changing the part.

The flame does not regulate well: it stays either too high or too low depending on the heat demand.
Cause: If the modulation mechanism of the gas valve fails, the gas flow does not adjust to the signal sent by the PCB.
Check that the modulator connector is properly inserted and free of moisture before assuming the gas valve is faulty.

The coil of the gas valve is not receiving power or it is not opening, although the rest of the boiler starts normally.
Cause: An electrically damaged coil prevents the valve from opening the gas flow even if the ignition cycle is correct.
Before replacing the valve, check the fuse on the PCB and the continuity of the wiring to the coil: a blown fuse presents identical symptoms.
