Honeywell Gas Valve VK4105G1146 - Renova Teknic F23E / Protherm BEAR
Honeywell gas valve VK4105G1146, manufactured in the Netherlands. It controls the gas flow to the burner in Protherm BEAR and Renova Teknic F23E boilers. It supports up to 60 mbar, category III, class B+J, and operates between -15°C and 60°C. The label indicates it should be used with the control box S456.M. It is replaced when ignition fails or there are gas leaks in the body.

How to check if ref. VK4105G1146 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference VK4105G1146. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the gas valve VK4105G1146 resolves
The gas valve regulates and modulates the gas flow to the burner. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
The boiler does not ignite and it seems that it is not receiving the command.
Cause: The valve needs to communicate with the control box S456.M; if there is a fault in this communication, the burner does not receive gas.
Check that the control box S456.M has no faults and that the gas valve receives power when attempting to ignite.
- 02
The boiler turns on and off intermittently.
Cause: A solenoid that does not close properly allows gas to flow irregularly, causing unstable flames.
Check the gas inlet pressure and make sure the pre-filter is clean before replacing the gas valve.
- 03
There is a smell of gas near the boiler.
Cause: The valve may have leaks due to a damaged gasket or fitting, even if it is not faulty; it operates up to 60 mbar.
With the installation closed, check the inlet and outlet joints with soapy water before blaming the gas valve.
- 04
The boiler locks up when starting.
Cause: If the solenoid does not open within the safety time, the control unit cuts off the gas and locks the equipment.
Check the lockout code of the BEAR or Renova: if it indicates a recurring flame failure, inspect the electrode and the ground before touching the gas valve.
Fault codes for Renova that this spare part resolves.
| Code | Fault | Diagnosis and solution |
|---|---|---|
| F1 | Ignition fault (flame does not start). | If the gas valve VK4105G1146 does not open or is misadjusted, gas does not reach the burner and ionisation is not established; check the control from the PCB, continuity of coils, and adjustment/pressure in the valve. |
| F.27 | Flame simulation (implausible flame detection). | Internal leaks in the gas valve VK4105G1146 may allow gas to pass with the burner off, generating a flame signal; check the valve's tightness and closing delay, and rule out moisture in the electronics. |
| F.28 | Start-up fault: ignition failed. | If the gas valve VK4105G1146 does not open or is defective/improperly adjusted, there is no gas supply and the flame does not ignite; check activation signal, gas pressure, and effective opening of the valve. |
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
