Flow Detector (Flow Switch) Fagor CA-20 / FA-15/20 Ref. MU1288400
If no hot water comes out when you turn on the tap, you may need the flow detector (flow switch) Fagor CA-20 / FA-15/20. This part is responsible for detecting the flow of water and activating the ignition to produce domestic hot water. When it fails, hot water is not generated, even though the tap is open. It is compatible with boilers from the Fagor Contract CA range, such as the CA 20 E N and CA 20 GLP, as well as with the FA series, including models like FA 20 N and FA 20 E2 N, among others. It should be replaced when you notice these hot water supply issues.

How to check if ref. MU1288400 is the part for your boiler
What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.
- Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference MU1288400. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
- Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
- Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
- If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Symptoms and faults that the flow meter MU1288400 resolves.
The flow meter detects the passage of water to activate the domestic hot water. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:
Common symptoms and faults
- 01
When opening the hot water tap, the boiler does not ignite.
Cause: The flow detector does not send the necessary signal for the boiler to start the ignition.
Bleed some air from the circuit and make sure that the flow at the tap is normal, not just a simple drip, before changing the part.
- 02
The hot water comes and goes, as if someone is turning the tap on and off.
Cause: The water flow through the detector is not stable, causing the boiler to repeatedly turn the burner on and off.
Check if the problem improves by opening the tap more; if the low flow is the cause, the detector is the main suspect.
- 03
There is sufficient mains pressure, but the boiler does not produce hot water at any tap.
Cause: A fault in the main flow switch prevents the start of hot water throughout the installation, although other functions of the boiler work correctly.
Check that the fault occurs at all taps and not just at one, to rule out a specific issue with that outlet.
- 04
The problem worsens over time: it used to take a while to provide hot water, and now it doesn't provide any.
Cause: The internal mechanism of the detector is becoming obstructed by scale or dirt, preventing its activation.
If you noticed a growing delay in ignition before it completely failed, check the disassembled part before considering it unusable.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
