Vaillant VCW 242 E / VCW 282 E PCB (control board)

Vaillant VCW 242 E / VCW 282 E PCB (control board)

Stock · 1 unit

When you turn on the hot water tap or activate the heating, the Vaillant VCW 242 E / VCW 282 E PCB controls the ignition, burner modulation, and the boiler pump. If this part fails, you will notice that the boiler does not start, locks out, or behaves erratically. It is used in the VCW 242 E and VCW 282 E models, among others in the COMBIcompact range. It is advisable to replace it when you experience these issues to restore the operation of your boiler.

Guide

How to check if the reference 130277 is the part for your boiler

What determines it is not the boiler model, but the reference printed on the part you already have installed.

  1. Find the reference printed on the installed part and check whether it matches the catalogue reference 130277. If it is not visible, do not identify the part from its shape alone.
  2. Check the full boiler model on its data plate and look for it in the model associations on this page.
  3. Compare the connections and physical body with the original part before installation.
  4. If anything is unclear, send us a photo of the marking via WhatsApp before placing your order.
Diagnosis and fault codes

Symptoms and faults that the PCB 130277 resolves.

The PCB controls the ignition, modulation, and safety features of the boiler. These are the typical symptoms and what to do:

Common symptoms and faults

  • 01

The boiler doesn't spark at all: you can hear the air from the fan, but the burner doesn't ignite.

Cause: The ignition module of the PCB does not generate the spark or does not maintain it long enough to ignite the gas.

Check that the ignition electrode is clean and properly positioned, and that the boiler does not indicate a gas or water pressure fault.

  • 02

The boiler is completely dead, with no LED lights on and no response when pressing the buttons.

Cause: A fault in the power supply stage of the PCB leaves the rest of the system without voltage.

Check the fuse on the control board and ensure that the boiler receives stable 230V before declaring the PCB faulty.

  • 03

It lights up for a moment and then turns off immediately, as if it loses the flame as soon as it ignites.

Cause: The flame detection circuit on the PCB cuts off the gas supply for safety reasons when combustion is not confirmed.

Check that the flame detection electrode is not dirty or misaligned before replacing the PCB.

  • 04

The boiler makes several consecutive ignition attempts with clicks, without starting.

Cause: The PCB retries the ignition cycle because it does not receive confirmation of a stable flame.

Check the red wire and the ignition electrode connection to the PCB before replacing it.

Fault codes from Vaillant that this part resolves.

CodeFaultDiagnosis and solution
F.61Fault: gas valve control (does not activate correctly).Faults in the driver/output of the PCB to the valve (triac/relay) cause absence of signal or short circuit. Check voltage and signal at the valve connectors during start-up and continuity of the harness; if the valve/wiring are correct, the PCB is the cause.
F.62Fault: gas valve disconnection delay (late closure).A fault in the PCB output circuit can keep the valve energized and delay its closure. Check that the valve closes mechanically and measure that the PCB cuts the power supply in time; if the valve responds and the delay persists, the PCB is defective.
F.63Error: EEPROM (fault in the electronics).Corruption or fault in the PCB memory prevents correct start-up/operation. After reset and voltage verification, if the error persists, replace the PCB.
F.64Fault: PCB/sensor/A/D converter.Analog/A-D channel fault of the PCB simulates a short circuit in the flow/return NTC. Check the NTCs and the harness for ohmic values; with correct sensors, the cause is the PCB.
F.65Fault: electronics temperature too high. The internal sensor/thermal management of the PCB detects overheating or a defect in the electronic module. Check ventilation and dissipation in the electronic box; if conditions are normal and the error persists, the PCB is damaged.
F.67Fault: electronics/flame (flame signal not plausible).Fault in the flame evaluation circuit/ASIC of the PCB causes incorrect ionization reading. Check ionization electrode, wiring, and grounding; if they are correct, the PCB is responsible.
F.70Invalid product code (DSN/coding).Replacement of the display and PCB without recoding or incorrect coding resistor on the board. Verify/load the equipment identification (DSN) and the coding resistor; if it does not support configuration, replace the PCB.

These symptoms can have more than one cause. If your boiler displays a fault code, send it to us via WhatsApp along with a photo of the labeling, and we'll tell you if this is the part.
